Twin Flames, Two Souls Journey Through Time – The Professor - Chapter 5

“Excuse Me!!”  The words bellowed out of his mouth louder than he probably expected, but when you have such a strong voice to begin with, raising your voice amplifies it exponentially.  Amelia had been working on her practice test for the final and she had made a mistake, she thought she had said “what an idiot” to herself, but apparently, she didn’t.  When Amelia is in her own world, she is in her own world, she doesn’t pay much attention to what is going on around her, but Daniels raised voice and angry tone certainly got her attention.  He was standing at the podium in the front of the class talking with other students, and she was sitting in the back of the class at the computer, yet he was staring at her with an intensity that she had never seen him do before, and she shuddered, not in fear for she knew Daniel was incapable of malice, but perhaps a sense of shame knowing that she had made probably the chilliest man alive angry.  Amelia stuttered out the only thing she knew, which was the truth, “I’m allowed to call myself an idiot, you aren’t.”  “Oh, is that so!” and then he dropped it.  Perhaps it was because she gave a truthful response, or perhaps it was the contrition he heard in her voice, but he let it go.

That interaction rattled Amelia; Daniel was the most patient human being she had ever met.  Amelia knew that she was the type of person that could try the patience of a saint.  She was stubborn and opinionated, she always took things a step too far, always.  She grew up with five brothers, and she would wrestle and fight with her little brother, and even her ex Matt.  Not in a violent way, but in a playful way.  They would tell her they didn’t want to play anymore, but she would always get one last hit in, and then they would punch back with more force, and then she knew OK, they don’t want to play anymore.  She wasn’t sure why she always pushed people, did she simply like getting the last word?  That was one of her biggest pet peeves with Matt, he would yell at her, tell her everything he wanted to say with absolutely no concern for her feelings, and then end the call and refuse to pick up the phone when she wanted to then speak her mind.  That infuriated her to no end, as did the fact it took fifteen damn years of his shit before she finally had had enough.  Her dad did the same thing, when he was done with the conversation, (or scolding more like), she didn’t ever get a chance to explain her side.  And now she felt guilty for upsetting someone she respected, and OK was falling head over heels for.  Did he think she was calling him an idiot?

The rest of the class went by quietly.  Daniel stayed at the front of the class and didn’t walk around like he usually did, and Amelia stayed stoic and silent at her computer.  Even her study group side eyed her, probably thinking, “I’m glad it’s her and not me.”  Upsetting Daniel was like upsetting Mr. Rogers or a golden retriever but leave it to Amelia to be the one to do it.  She felt awful, she knew she shouldn’t call herself an idiot, words have power, they are spells we cast every day, why do you think they call it spelling?  Her boss would tell her the same thing, “Don’t call yourself stupid, you are not stupid.”  Amelia knew that, in fact if anyone were to ever dare insinuate that she was an idiot with their tone of voice or actions, that was the quickest way to flip her bitch switch.  Amelia was a lot of things, but dumb was not one of them.  She was a perfectionist; any mistake would infuriate her.  No one demanded perfection from her, not her parents, not her teachers, it was something she demanded from herself.  There was no need for a boss or teacher to berate her over a mistake, because they both knew that no one would be harder on Amelia than herself.  And sweet patient Daniel would always reiterate how mistakes are how we learn.  She knew he was right, but it still annoyed her when she got an answer wrong, or worse if she didn’t understand something.  (“Just wait till calculus,” Daniel had once said, and truer words have never been spoken.  Calculus is the spawn of Satan, and try as she might, and boy did she try, she never got Calculus.).  She called herself an idiot all the time, it had never bitten her in the ass quite so spectacularly before.  Try as she might, she always seemed to put her foot in her mouth regarding Daniel.  She KNEW that she would spend the day obsessing over it, I mean that should have been her middle name, instead of Anne, her name should have been Amelia Overthink Jenkins, it would have been the perfect fit.  She felt bad, she adored Daniel, and it was going to bother her to no end that he may have thought she was talking about him.  Once in an attempt to be funny she asked him why we should believe what he was telling us, and he said, “do I need to get my transcripts out to show you my grades?”  That had shut her up, she didn’t think he was upset at her, but he certainly wanted her to know that he had the goods to back up his arguments.  Daniel always had the goods she thought to herself, and a mischievous smile formed on her lips, that was a far more pleasant thought, then thinking about how she had upset him.  She was going to try and not overreact by sending an email.  She would see him tomorrow and by then everything should be fine again.

Daniel could feel his face flash red, he couldn’t remember when he had ever been that mad at a student.  When he yelled “Excuse me” it actually shocked him.  He may be weird, but he was no idiot.  Daniel could see her face drain of color, a change from the myriads of colors Amelia normally would turn.  She was scared, he wasn’t sure if he liked that or not.  Parts of him did.  He enjoyed seeing her contrite, but he hated that she appeared to have genuine fear in her eyes.  Her explanation made sense; Amelia talked to herself constantly, and she always seemed to be in a world of her own.  She is such a sweet and kind person, he couldn’t imagine her saying that to him and meaning it.  To be fair, she was sitting and looking at her computer, she wasn’t paying him the slightest bit of attention, and he was having a conversation with someone else. How was she supposed to know that every time he heard her voice his whole body responded.  The poor student he was talking to probably had no clue why he said what he said.  He was in a foul mood for the remainder of the class, and Amelia pretty much scampered out of the room without her usual “have a good night, Daniel,” which in turn put him in a foul mood for the rest of the day.  Thank God that the semester is almost over.  Daniel was finding it more and more difficult to stop thinking about Amelia.  Every day in class his attraction grew stronger and stronger.  It was as if his whole body vibrated whenever she was in his vicinity.  The hairs on his body stood up, his body knew she was close, even before the rest of his senses caught up.  It was the strangest feeling he had ever had regarding another person, and he was finding it increasingly harder and harder to get his body to heal whenever she was around.  She did things to him, and it took all his willpower not to grab her in his arms and tell her so.  The way she looked at him, the way her breath quickened, and her breasts swelled whenever she did, told him she had to feel the same.  The electricity that he felt, it had to be reciprocated.  Could this intense attraction be only one sided?  He found that hard to believe, but what if he was wrong?  What if she didn’t have feelings for him?  He had watched her over the past four and half months and she didn’t seem to interact with anyone else in that same manner.  He only saw a small snippet of her daily life though, for all he knew she could talk to other men like she did him.  And it was the two percent of doubt that kept him up at night.  He could ask anybody else out and if they said no, they said no, but she was a student at least for the next week or so, and the repercussions for being wrong could be disastrous for him.  He always played it safe, he wished he had the fortitude to risk it, but he knew that his fears would inevitably win out.

As he lay in bed that night and the day’s events replayed in his mind, he could feel guilt and fear creep up into his heart.  He shouldn’t have yelled at her, she did nothing wrong, it did piss him off that she would call herself an idiot, she was smart, and inquisitive, with a large heaping dose of naughty, and those were his absolute favorite qualities in a woman.  The way her green eyes would flash with a desire he had never felt before whenever they would match wits so to speak had a way of making him instantly hard.  Her perfect mouth and delightful pink lips turning into a wicked grin, and an expression of “if you only knew” silently screaming forth from them.  She made him feel ten feet tall every time she laughed at one of his lame jokes, or the way she would exaggeratedly roll her eyes whenever he said or did something even too nerdy for her.  Those eye rolls made his hand twitch, how very much he would enjoy bending her over his knee when she did that, and much to his delight he KNEW how very much she would enjoy that as well.  He had surmised that Amelia was someone who liked pushing limits, and he would find great pleasure in helping her discovering just how far those limits reached.  It was as if he could read her mind, and every single time she looked at him and then looked down with a knowing smile it drove him absolutely insane with need.  He knew she was telling him with her eyes to go for it, she was practically daring him to do it.  His need was becoming an urgent matter at the moment.  Daniel enjoyed the fine art of denial, but this night he was not going to be able to resist.  Any time he pleasured himself it was as if she was there, that it wasn’t his hand, but hers.  He could feel her near him when he did, and the feeling was so strong and so primal that it almost frightened him just how strong it was.  There were even times that when he climaxed that he could feel her around him climaxing herself.  Like he was pouring himself into her, instead of his hand, and the feeling was heavenly.  He slept like a baby every time too.

As Amelia lay in her bed this sudden and overwhelming feeling came over her body.  She felt as though Daniel was in her room with her.  Her body was reacting the same way it did whenever they were in close proximity to each other.  Her skin tingled, that same delicious tingle as though every single cell in her body was lit on fire.  Her hands were on her body, touching her breasts, needing her nipples, only it didn’t feel like her hands, she wasn’t controlling them at the moment.  As she reached down to her most intimate part and as she felt herself building towards a climax, she could still feel Daniel’s presence in the room.  She looked around just to make sure she was indeed alone.  While she always pictures him in her mind, there are times as though she feels as if she is possessed.  In her soul she knew that even though physically he wasn’t there; he was still there.  That it was his hands touching her, as though he was inhabiting her body for that sliver in time.  As her release came, she felt him reach his climax as well.  She could not be sure, of course, but she sensed that at that same exact moment, he was doing the same exact thing, and he was thinking of her.  The feeling is overwhelming, intoxicating, and those were always her most powerful orgasms.  She always slept like a baby on those nights.

Daniel and Amelia said more with their eyes than they ever could with their mouths.  The next morning, they just looked at each other, smiled sweetly and nodded to one another.  That was all that needed to be done, each knew that the other wasn’t angry or hurt by what happened the day before.  Daniel knew Amelia wasn’t speaking to or about him, and Amelia knew that the response was a knee jerk reaction to what she said to herself.  This was going to be the last class before the final next week, and what had happened was just a small blip in what had been a thoroughly enjoyable semester for the both of them.

Amelia had spent the last five months preparing for how she would tell Daniel.  Every day closer to the final, made that dread all the more real.  She simultaneously wanted to get it over with and wanted to wait to say anything.  She knew that time was not her friend, because the longer she waited the more likely it would be that she would talk herself out of saying anything.  She had to continually convince herself that this was her moment.  Every single time she thought about chickening out, she would tell herself how life is short and of all the many, many mistakes she had made in her life, she couldn’t allow Daniel to be one of them.  She knew she would look back on her life as we all do when death is knocking on your door, and that if she didn’t say something to Daniel, that would be what she would regret the most.  It was incredibly scary to put oneself out there like this, to bear one’s very soul to another took courage that she did not normally possess.  She had spent much of her life trying to fade into the background, she never wanted to be the center of attention.  People have not always been kind to Amelia, so she chose to live her life in the shadows, it was just easier that way.  This was going to be her moment though, she was taking the reins of her life with both hands, and she was going to do what needed to be done.  She was sure that her sister and Leah would be thrilled when she finally asked him out, because Amelia had talked their ears off at nauseum about what she should say, how to bring it up, what he might say, what she would say in response.  Both Lucy and Leah were always willing to listen, but even Amelia was getting sick of hearing about Daniel, so she could only imagine how they felt.  The day was fast approaching, she was going into a tailspin about what could happen, and all while trying to study for a final, a final that wouldn’t count towards her actual degree, but which did count towards her GPA, and Daniels class was worth eight credits, which was more than the two classes she had taken previously combined.  For the time being Daniel was going to have to be put on the shelf while she studied for the final.

Daniel was relieved when he got to class that day and that his brief non-verbal interaction with Amelia seemed to say everything that needed to be said.  He was beginning to feel a tightness in his chest at the fact that this was their last real day in class together.  The final didn’t really count, all he was going to need to do was activate the final on the portal and they all take the test in silence.  While the way his body reacted to her presence was distracting, he knew that he was going to miss the electricity that radiated between them. He wouldn’t see her lovely face every day anymore, hear her giggle at his dad jokes, and watch as her breasts bounced as she did.  He wasn’t sure if it was relief or sadness that he was feeling knowing that his life would return to normal, maybe a little of both.  As he went over the study guide he would catch glimpses of Amelia out of the corner of his eye, he loved and hated that she sat in the front row, there was no escaping her.  Even when she wasn’t looking at him with her mesmerizing pale green eyes it still felt as though she was seeing through all the barriers he had put up around himself into his very soul.  Daniel was an excellent multitasker, he went over the guide seamlessly, but the entire time his mind was on Amelia.  He was hoping just once that she would doddle after class, linger just slightly longer than everyone else, give him some extra time with her.  He was sure she was running off to her job, but a man can dream right?  He wished so badly that he had options, better options anyway than the ones that he had.  He couldn’t risk his entire life on something that wasn’t 100% completely guaranteed, he also knew that even if he could, the optics of immediately jumping into a relationship with a student would have consequences.  He wouldn’t lose his job, he was a tenured professor, but the whispers that would follow would definitely hurt his reputation, and hers as well.  It is hard to wash away the rumors of impropriety, and the world being what it is, it would affect her more than him.  Could he live with people saying cruel and unsubstantiated things about her, about him?  He knew that she was studying to be a zoologist, and that she would have classes in this building for at least four more semesters, not to mention the science classes, which were also in this same building.  Amelia was intelligent and hardworking, she would prove herself by her own merit that she earned every “A” that she got, but there may always be an asterisk next to his class if they dated.  He was thankful that it was going to be summer and that he would have some time away to get his bearings back and maybe gain the perspective that he needed during that time to figure out the best course of action.  The only thing he knew for sure was that he was going to miss seeing Amelia every day, he would miss her smile, the smell of her perfume, the sound of her voice, he was simply going to miss her

As the class was ending and Amelia put her notes away for the final time, she started to feel anxious.  She was clenching her jaw and trying to take as much time as she could putting her stuff away.  All the feelings and memories from the last five months were playing in her head.  Every stolen glance at his incredibly cute booty, the times he and she would look at each other smiling because the other had made them laugh.  How sexy his voice was, and how her heart leapt with happiness every time he said her name.  That in a room full of teenagers she was the one that he always seemed to hear saying something inappropriate, and how much pleasure he seemed to take in telling her to behave.  And when he did, how badly she wanted to respond “yes, sir,” just so she could see his reaction.  She always kept her distance from him, even when she went up to his desk to ask a question, she made sure to stand a good two feet away from him, petrified to be any closer to him than that.  Afraid that one of these times she would accidentally touch him, and if that happened, she had no idea how she would react.  She knew how she wanted to react, but the other students probably wouldn’t appreciate that, nor would the faculty.  Amelia believed in instant gratification, she is the type of person who reads the last page of a book or must know how a show or movie ends because the anticipation is torture for her, or more so the not knowing was what was torture for her.  These past months have been the sweetest and most frustrating kind of torture.  As she slung her backpack over her shoulder and said, “have a nice weekend, Daniel,” she waited for a response from him as she normally did and he said, “same to you,” without ever looking up at her.  She wanted to pout but just walked out of the class and made her way to the office.

Daniel wanted to chase after Amelia as soon as she left the room, he felt terrible not looking at her as he responded to her saying goodbye.  He knew that if he did look at her, he wouldn’t have had the strength to let her leave.  It was hard enough as it was to let her leave.  He felt a wave a panic and relief come over him, two competing emotions which were befuddling his normally very calm and analytical demeanor.  He hated watching her leave, well that was a lie, the way her hips swayed back and forth as she walked was always very enticing, it was the fact that she was leaving his class for the last time.  The final didn’t count, on test days she left quietly so as not to disturb the other students.  He should have looked at her, he would probably spend the weekend second guessing that decision.  Daniel had thought about speaking to his dad about Amelia to get his perspective, but he was so afraid of hearing how wrong it was.  He and his father didn’t have the closest of relationships, he was always much closer to his mom.  Her death had been a blow to them both, and he didn’t want to pull them further apart by telling him that he was interested in dating a student.  He couldn’t tell any of his friends, most were teachers in the school, this was something that he was going to have to figure out on his own, he hoped that when the circumstance presented itself that he would know what to do.  He locked the classroom for the final time that semester and went to his office hoping the answer would come to him.
